Raised oil tank removal
A horizontal 24,000-litre oil tank sat high on brick pillars, so the removal was risk assessed and agreed with everyone on site before the tank and its supports were dealt with.

Britteco removes, cleans and decommissions commercial oil and fuel tanks across the city of Liverpool, from the north docks and Vauxhall to Speke, Garston and the hospitals. The work is planned and run by our northern team from Harrogate.
Oil heating is almost absent from Liverpool homes: the 2021 Census counted 111 oil-only households out of 207,491 in the city. The tanks that matter here are commercial ones, holding diesel, gas oil and heating oil for businesses, hospitals and public buildings, plus the forgotten tanks that turn up whenever old land is redeveloped.
The north docks are a good example. Around Stanley Dock and Bramley-Moore Dock, former warehouses and quaysides have been turned into hotels, apartments and a stadium, and the Liverpool Waters scheme continues the same story. Old fuel and oil tanks on that kind of land need pumping out, cleaning and removing before groundworks start.
At the south end, Speke and Garston combine Liverpool John Lennon Airport, the Port of Garston and large business parks with warehouses, distribution yards and manufacturing units. Elsewhere, the Royal Liverpool, Aintree, Alder Hey and Broadgreen hospitals all run standby generators, and bus garages, courier depots and council yards keep diesel for their fleets.

Ordered by what we are asked for in the city.
Run out of heating oil or diesel in Liverpool?
24/7 emergency heating oil, kerosene and diesel delivery from 100 litres, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Liverpool falls under the Environment Agency’s Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire area. Much of the city’s commercial land sits beside the Mersey estuary and the dock system, where spilled oil can reach tidal water through drains and dock walls. That is why a leaking tank or a corroded bund on a quayside site needs dealing with straight away.
Businesses holding more than 201 litres of oil must follow the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001: a bund of at least 110% of the tank’s capacity, protected pipework and a fill point inside containment. Older steel tanks on brick piers or in warehouse corners often fail those tests, which is a common reason they are removed rather than repaired.
Waste from every job travels under Waste Transfer or Consignment Notes, and removed tanks get a degassing certificate and a certificate of disposal, so you can show exactly where the oil and the steel went.
We take commercial tank work anywhere in the city, including these areas.

Yes. Raised and hard-to-reach tanks are drained, cleaned and de-gassed, then cut into sections that can be carried out. We plan the supports and access as part of the job, as we did on our Liverpool case study.
That is usually water and diesel bug in the tank. We pump out the sludge and water, clean the tank and polish the fuel, then advise on breathers and water checks to stop it coming back.
Consignment or Waste Transfer Notes for the oil and sludge, and a degassing certificate plus certificate of disposal for the tank itself.
It depends on the tank size, what is left inside, access and whether supports or a bund also come out. Send photos and the capacity and we will quote a fixed price.

Send the postcode, tank size and a couple of photos. We will reply with a plan, a fixed price and a date.
