We clean, inspect and remove commercial diesel and oil tanks across Northamptonshire, from Brackmills in Northampton to the logistics parks around Daventry, Corby and Kettering. Fuel polishing and tank replacement are part of the same service.
Northamptonshire runs on diesel. DIRFT, the rail freight terminal near Crick at junction 18 of the M1, covers about 430 acres. Brackmills in Northampton has more than 180 businesses on 730 acres near junction 15. Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough host distribution centres for DHL, XPO, FedEx and Wincanton, and that means bulk diesel tanks, fuel islands and generators.
Around Silverstone and Brackley, the county is part of Motorsport Valley, with engineering and test businesses at Silverstone Park. In the west, villages and farms are more likely to burn oil. Census 2021 puts oil-only heating at 5.0% of households in West Northamptonshire against 2.5% in North Northamptonshire.
Busy sites wear tanks hard. Frequent deliveries bring in water, filler lines get damaged, and big diesel tanks build up sludge that ends up in vehicle filters. Our Northampton case study involved two 17,500-litre diesel tanks, drained and cleaned along with their filler lines.

24/7 emergency heating oil, kerosene and diesel delivery from 100 litres, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Northamptonshire is covered by the Environment Agency’s Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire area. The Nene flows through Northampton, Wellingborough and Oundle, with gauging stations at Upton Mill and Geldhart’s Mill, and the Welland marks the county’s northern edge. Limestone groundwater in the middle of the area is monitored alongside the rivers.
On large logistics yards, surface water drains quickly into brooks that feed these rivers. A split filler line or an overfilled bund can let diesel reach a watercourse within minutes, so interceptors, bund drainage and delivery procedures matter as much as the tank itself.
Sites with more than 201 litres of oil must comply with the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001, including a bund of at least 110% of capacity. We are OFTEC registered, ISO 9001:2015 certified and CHAS accredited, and we follow GPP2 guidance. Every job is documented with the correct waste and disposal paperwork.
We cover the whole county, including these towns.
In most cases, yes. We plan around refuelling times, and where a site has more than one tank we clean them in turn. For a single tank, temporary fuel in a bowser or our tanker can keep vehicles moving.
Water from condensation or deliveries settles at the bottom, and microbes known as diesel bug grow where the water meets the fuel. The result is a dark sludge that blocks filters and damages injectors. Cleaning removes it, and fuel polishing helps keep it from coming back.
Yes. Farms in West Northamptonshire often have older steel tanks for gas oil alongside heating oil tanks for the house and yard. We clean, inspect, replace or remove them and take away any contaminated fuel.
Send photos and the tank details and we will confirm the method, then book a date with our Banbury team and bring the tanker and equipment needed to finish in one visit. If a site runs low on fuel, emergency diesel and heating oil deliveries run 24/7.
If the tank is above ground and reachable, removal is usually simplest. Tanks buried under concrete yards or built into structures are often better cleaned, de-gassed and filled. We will recommend one after seeing the site.
