Cleaning planned around tank access
Britteco was commissioned to clean three above-ground storage tanks at a commercial and industrial facility in Bristol. The vessels had capacities of 40,000, 80,000 and 80,000 litres.
The scope covered internal cleaning and the removal of sludge and residual material. The programme needed to fit around the client’s operating requirements, with access to the tanks coordinated in sequence.
Sequencing transfers and site work
The project account records site-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statements and an agreed oil-transfer programme. This enabled the team to plan access to each vessel in turn.
Site controls, other operations and the position of equipment had to be considered before work began. The sequence was central to completing industrial oil tank cleaning across multiple vessels.
Removing residues from the tanks
The team used vacuum extraction for sludge and residual fuel, followed by high-pressure water jetting and internal cleaning. The method was adapted to the vessel and the material present.
Removed sludge, residues and wash water required controlled handling and disposal. The project account records disposal through licensed waste channels and completion documentation for the client.
Three tanks cleaned
All three tanks were cleaned and returned to service. The completed programme brought together tank-access planning, residue extraction, internal cleaning and waste handling.
